Hot Wheels Infinite Rush opens early access on Monday, September 7, three days ahead of its full release on September 10. Only one version gets in that early: the Ultimate Edition, which is digital-only and costs $99.99 / £89.99.

Milestone is developing and publishing the open-world arcade racer, and it launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, and PC through Steam, the Microsoft Store and the Epic Games Store. Nintendo's own store listing puts the Switch 2 download at 13.7GB.

Which edition unlocks Hot Wheels Infinite Rush early access

The three-day head start is attached to the most expensive digital bundle, not to a pre-order bonus. Buying the Standard or Deluxe edition ahead of time does not move your unlock date. Here is how the versions break down:

  • Standard Edition — $49.99 / £44.99. The base game plus the Boost'n'Slide Pack, which adds two vehicles.
  • Deluxe Edition — $79.99 / £69.99. The base game, the Vehicle Pass with 44 vehicles, and the Boost'n'Slide and Feel the Heat packs.
  • Ultimate Edition — $99.99 / £89.99. Everything in Deluxe, plus the Ferrari Expansion Pack, the Car Collection Pack, the Power & Pace Pack and the Bone Shaker Skeletor Edition. This is the only edition with September 7 access.
  • Day One Edition — physical, in selected regions. The base game with four DLC packs. Milestone says it is not available on Switch 2.

Of that list, the Ferrari Expansion Pack is the only add-on that changes the map rather than the garage. It adds a new island on top of eight Ferrari cars, so Ultimate buyers get more places to drive, not just more things to drive.

Platforms, file size and how many people can play

The 13.7GB figure comes from the Switch 2 eShop entry, and it is the only per-platform size published so far. Milestone has not put out download sizes for PS5, Xbox Series X|S or the PC storefronts, and those numbers usually land within a day or two of launch. It is a modest install by current Switch 2 standards — for comparison, see our breakdown of the Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter file sizes on Switch 2 and Switch, which run several times larger.

The Switch 2 listing also confirms the multiplayer counts: one to four players on a single system, and two to 12 players online. It supports TV, tabletop and handheld modes. Local four-player racing on one console is rarer than it used to be, and it puts the game in the same bracket as the split-screen additions in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's update 4.0.0 on Switch 2.

What Milestone has not said yet

There is no announced unlock hour. Milestone has confirmed the September 7 date for Ultimate Edition owners and the September 10 date for everyone else, but it has not published a time or said whether the unlock is staggered by region. Recent racing and sports launches have gone both ways: NHL 27's early access ran on a fixed local-time trigger, while other games have used a single global unlock.

Nothing has been said about whether online lobbies and leaderboards are live during those three days, or whether early-access players share matchmaking with the wider launch population. If you are buying Ultimate mainly for the head start, that is worth waiting on before September 7. The post-launch plan is a separate matter: the Vehicle Pass covers 44 cars, and the Ferrari island is bundled into Ultimate rather than sold as a launch-day extra.

For anyone playing on PC or a handheld, the four-player local mode expects real controllers rather than keyboards. If you are short one pad, our guide to connecting a PS5 controller to Android covers the same pairing quirks that show up on PC and handheld setups. And if you want a heavier simulation to sit alongside the arcade driving, Gran Turismo 7's update 1.71 car list is the other side of the genre on PS5.

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is out September 10 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X and PC. Ultimate Edition owners start on September 7.
