Halloween: The Game Early Access Starts Today at 9 a.m. PT for Deluxe Buyers

Aditya Singh

Early access to Halloween: The Game opens today, Friday 4 September, at 9 a.m. Pacific, and it is gated behind one purchase: the $59.99 Digital Deluxe Edition. Everyone else waits until the standard launch on Tuesday 8 September, which IllFonic has scheduled for the same 9 a.m. Pacific slot on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.

That is a four-day head start rather than a demo or a beta. Progress carries straight into the full game, because it is the full game — the servers simply open early for Deluxe buyers.

What time does Halloween: The Game early access start

One global unlock, no staggered regional rollout. 9 a.m. Pacific on 4 September converts to:

  • 11 a.m. Central
  • 12 p.m. Eastern
  • 4 p.m. UTC
  • 5 p.m. British Summer Time
  • 6 p.m. Central European Summer Time
  • 9:30 p.m. India Standard Time
  • 1 a.m. Japan, on 5 September

The 8 September standard launch uses the same conversions. Note that IllFonic's own post labels the 8th a Friday; the date is correct and the weekday is not, since 8 September 2026 falls on a Tuesday.

Editions, prices and what the extra $20 buys

The Standard Edition is $39.99 on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store. The Digital Deluxe Edition is $59.99 and is the only way to play before the 8th.

Beyond the four days, Deluxe adds two extra playable civilians — Richard and Alexis — along with bonus survivor skins and a digital comic. Pre-order bonuses attached to both tiers stop being available once the game launches properly on the 8th.

Physical copies come much later. Disc versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X arrive on 6 October at $39.99, with a Limited Collector's Edition at $149.99 that packs in a Trick or Treat Studios action figure, lenticular art, a poster and early unlocks for the Samhain and Clown Michael Myers skins.

How much space you need, and what your PC has to hit

The Steam listing asks for 45GB of free space and specifies an SSD or NVMe drive as a requirement rather than a recommendation. Mechanical hard drives are not supported.

Minimum PC specs are Windows 11 64-bit, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1660, RX 590 or Arc A770 for 1080p at 30fps. IllFonic's recommended tier asks for 32GB of RAM and an RTX 3000-series or RX 7000-series card, and targets 4K at 30fps — a 30fps target at both ends, which is worth knowing before you budget for a card. If you are weighing what your rig can handle, the same calculation we ran for The Blood of Dawnwalker's unlock and specs applies here.

What you actually play

IllFonic is building a 1v4 asymmetrical horror game set in Haddonfield on Halloween night, 1978. One player is Michael Myers; four others play Heroes of Haddonfield trying to survive him. There is also a standalone single-player component in which you take the Myers role, so the game is not purely online.

Gun Interactive co-publishes, and Compass International Pictures holds the film rights the game is built on. Crossplay across PC, PS5 and Xbox has been discussed in coverage but IllFonic has not published a confirmation, so treat it as unconfirmed until the studio says so.

Early access windows like this are becoming the norm for mid-priced releases — we saw the same structure with Mortal Shell 2's early access unlock and with STALKER 2's Cost of Hope expansion. The pattern is consistent: pay the premium tier, get the days, keep the save.

If you want the same thing on a phone

Halloween: The Game is not coming to Android or iOS, and IllFonic has not hinted at a mobile port. Asymmetrical horror does exist on phones, though, and our round-up of the best horror games on Android covers the co-op and offline options worth installing while you wait for the 8th. For something lighter, the scariest Roblox games list runs on far weaker hardware than 45GB and an NVMe drive.

Pre-orders for both digital tiers are live now on all four storefronts. If you buy Deluxe after 9 a.m. Pacific today, you can start downloading and playing immediately — there is no separate pre-load gate once the window is open.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time does Halloween: The Game early access start?

Early access opens on Friday 4 September at 9 a.m. Pacific, which is 12 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. UTC and 5 p.m. in the UK. It is a single global unlock, so the servers open at the same moment everywhere. Only Digital Deluxe Edition buyers get in.

How much is Halloween: The Game?

The Standard Edition is $39.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition is $59.99 on Steam, Epic, PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store. Physical discs for PS5 and Xbox Series X arrive on 6 October at $39.99, with a Limited Collector's Edition at $149.99.

How big is Halloween: The Game and does it need an SSD?

Steam lists 45GB of free space, and an SSD or NVMe drive is a hard requirement rather than a suggestion. A mechanical hard drive will not do. Console install sizes have not been published by IllFonic yet.

Does early access progress carry over to the full game?

Yes. Early access is the finished game running four days early for Deluxe buyers, not a separate build or a trial. Anything you unlock between 4 and 8 September stays on your account when the standard edition goes live.

Is Halloween: The Game on Nintendo Switch or mobile?

No. It is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store only. IllFonic has announced no Switch, Switch 2, Android or iOS version, and has not commented on whether one is planned.
