Nintendo of America has announced a Customer Appreciation Sale that runs from September 13 through September 26, taking 30% off dozens of digital Nintendo Switch games and bundles. It covers both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2, and it applies in the United States through the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo's own online store, and participating retail locations.

Nintendo describes it as one of its largest promotions to date. The company also did something unusual in the announcement itself: it named tariff refunds as part of the reason the sale exists.

What the Nintendo Customer Appreciation Sale includes

The headline figure is 30%, and that number attaches specifically to digital games and bundles. The rest of the promotion is broader but less precisely defined, because Nintendo has not put a percentage on the other categories.

  • 30% off dozens of digital Nintendo Switch games and bundles
  • Savings on select physical games
  • Discounts on downloadable content
  • Deals on accessories
  • Reduced prices on amiibo figures
  • Markdowns on Nintendo apparel

The list of discounted titles has not been published. It goes live when the sale opens on September 13. Nintendo also warns that available products and offers may vary by retailer and sales channel, so a physical discount at one shop is not a promise of the same price at another.

Which systems and stores the sale covers

Both console generations are included. Nintendo's wording covers games and accessories for the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2, which matters if you bought the newer hardware and have been waiting for its library to see a meaningful cut.

Three channels carry the promotion: the eShop on the console, Nintendo's online store, and participating retailers around the country. This is a Nintendo of America promotion, which makes it a United States sale. No equivalent has been announced for Europe, the UK or Japan, and pricing outside the US has been moving in the opposite direction, as the Switch 2 price increase in the UK showed.

For a sense of how deep Nintendo's discounts usually run, the previous promotion is a fair yardstick. Our coverage of the Nintendo eShop Blockbuster Sale tracked which games were cut and by how much.

Why tariff refunds are in the announcement

Nintendo tied this sale directly to money it recovered from the US government. "The Customer Appreciation Sale is our way of saying thank you to Nintendo players for their continued support and is made possible in part by tariff-related refunds," the company said, adding that it absorbed most tariff-related costs itself and that the refunds helped make promotions like this one possible.

The sums are substantial. Nintendo reported roughly $300 million in tariff refunds in its fiscal first-quarter results, following a February Supreme Court ruling that invalidated tariffs issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Nintendo was one of many companies that sought refunds after that decision.

That framing has drawn criticism in published reports, on the grounds that a discount window is not the same thing as a refund. Two players sued Nintendo in July, arguing that money recovered from tariffs should go back to the customers who paid higher prices. Nintendo has not connected the sale to that case, and the litigation is unresolved.

What to do before September 13

Build a wishlist now. Discounts are easier to judge when you already know the list price of what you are watching: 30% off a $59.99 game is $41.99, and 30% off a $69.99 game is $48.99.

Switch 2 software is the open question. First-party titles on the newer system have rarely been discounted, and 2026 releases such as Metroid Ravenous have held their prices. Hardware has held firm too, including the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2. Whether any of it lands in this sale stays unknown until the list appears.

It is also worth getting your console current beforehand. The Switch 2 system update 23.0.0 arrived this week, and installing it ahead of time means one less interruption when you sit down to buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the Nintendo Customer Appreciation Sale start and end?

The sale runs from September 13 to September 26, 2026. Nintendo of America has not published a cut-off time for the final day, so treat September 26 as the last day to buy rather than counting on a late-night window.

How big is the discount in the Customer Appreciation Sale?

Digital Nintendo Switch games and bundles are 30% off. Nintendo has also promised savings on select physical games, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo and apparel, but it has not attached a percentage to those categories.

Does the Customer Appreciation Sale include Nintendo Switch 2 games?

Yes. Nintendo's announcement covers games and accessories for both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2. The specific list of discounted titles has not been released, so it is not yet clear how many Switch 2 games are included or whether first-party releases are among them.

Is the Nintendo Customer Appreciation Sale available outside the US?

No. This is a Nintendo of America promotion covering the United States. Nintendo has not announced an equivalent sale for Europe, the UK, Japan or any other region.

Where can I get the Customer Appreciation Sale prices?

Through the Nintendo eShop on your console, Nintendo's online store, and participating retail locations across the US. Nintendo notes that available products and offers may vary by retailer and sales channel, so a physical game deal at one shop may not appear at another.
