Marvel Rivals Season 10, subtitled Butcher's Blasphemy, goes live on 11 September at the 09:00 UTC seasonal rollover, and for the first time NetEase is shipping a season with only one new hero instead of two. Gorr the God Butcher arrives as a Duelist on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

NetEase laid the season out in Dev Vision Vol. 21, published today by hosts Guangguang and Zhiyong. Two things in that video will change more matches than the new character does: roughly 70% of the roster is being retuned in a single pass, and competitive hero bans are being rebuilt.

What is in Marvel Rivals Season 10

Gorr fights with All-Black the Necrosword, which changes shape mid-fight rather than staying one weapon. Executing an enemy leaves behind a Black Berserker that Gorr can send at the other team, and Symbiote Assimilation moves him across the map. His ultimate turns the sword into the Annihilablade and pushes every active Berserker forward at once.

The season's map does not arrive with it. God Quarry, a Domination stage, is dated 24 September — two weeks after the season opens. Galacta's Gift, the free login-style giveaway, returns the same day, and NetEase has two Jeff-centred events running before that in Dream Eater and Superstar Seeking.

How the new hero ban system works

The old system had both teams vote at the same time, which meant two teams could burn their bans on the same character and effectively waste one. That is gone. Teams now ban in turns, duplicate bans are blocked outright, and a banned hero stays locked for both sides for the rest of the match.

The threshold is Gold III and above. Anyone below that rank still queues into competitive without a ban phase, so the change only bites once you climb. If you are used to the old simultaneous vote, expect a slower, more deliberate draft.

Which heroes are being buffed and nerfed

NetEase is touching most of the cast. The headline rework is Scarlet Witch, who now applies a Chaos Mark to enemies and gains bonus health when she damages a marked target — a sustain change rather than a damage one.

  • Nerfed: Magneto, The Thing, Black Cat, Winter Soldier, Elsa Bloodstone, Black Widow, Magik, Cloak and Dagger, Mantis and The Hood.
  • Buffed: Captain America, Rogue, Devil Dinosaur, Emma Frost, Deadpool, Star-Lord, Namor, Iron Fist, Wolverine, Psylocke, Scarlet Witch, Jeff the Land Shark, Loki and White Fox.

That is a long buff list against a short nerf list, which usually means the floor is being raised rather than the ceiling cut. Magneto and The Thing coming down at the same time is the change most likely to move the tank meta.

Cosmetics, and what comes after Season 10

The cosmetic run this season is a Pajama Party costume series covering seven heroes, plus a set of Jeff-themed items. NetEase has also flagged Season 10.5 for next month, and it is bringing two Avengers-themed game modes rather than another hero — the studio has said outright that the half-season adds no new character.

Marvel Rivals stays free to play across every platform, so nothing here sits behind a purchase except the battle pass and the cosmetics. Gorr does not need to be bought separately.

Where this sits against the rest of the live-service calendar

September is crowded. Black Ops 7 Season 06 starts on 17 September and runs only four weeks, and Delta Force's Reorientation season went live on 8 September. If you are stacking downloads, note that Marvel Rivals seasons patch on the day rather than pre-loading days ahead the way Battlefield 6's numbered updates do.

NetEase's other Marvel game has had a rougher run of it: the Marvel Tokon patch that wiped saved replays is a reminder to check what an update touches before you install it. And if you are playing Rivals on a phone-tethered setup, our guide to connecting a PS5 controller to Android covers the pairing quirks.

Nothing in the Dev Vision covered server downtime for the 11 September rollover. NetEase has not published a maintenance window, so treat the 09:00 UTC time as the point the season flips rather than a guaranteed login.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time does Marvel Rivals Season 10 start?

Season 10: Butcher's Blasphemy goes live on 11 September 2026 at 09:00 UTC, which is the rollover slot Marvel Rivals seasons use. That is 5am ET, 2am PT and 2:30pm IST on the same day. NetEase has not announced a separate maintenance window, so the client update may land slightly before or after that moment.

Is Gorr the God Butcher free in Marvel Rivals?

Yes. Marvel Rivals is free to play on every platform and heroes are not sold separately, so Gorr unlocks through normal play once Season 10 opens. The paid content this season is the battle pass and the Pajama Party cosmetic series. Gorr is the only new hero in Season 10, and Season 10.5 next month adds none.

Which platforms is Marvel Rivals Season 10 on?

PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The season opens at the same time on all of them. There is no Nintendo Switch or mobile version.

How do the new hero bans work in Marvel Rivals?

Teams now ban one at a time in alternating turns instead of voting simultaneously, and the same hero cannot be banned twice. A banned hero is locked out for both teams for the whole match. The ban phase only applies in competitive at Gold III and above; below that rank, matches start without one.

When does the God Quarry map release in Marvel Rivals?

God Quarry, a Domination map, arrives on 24 September 2026, two weeks after Season 10 opens. Galacta's Gift returns on the same date. The season itself launches on 11 September with the balance pass and Gorr, but without the new map.
