Rayman Legends Retold Release Date Moves to December 3, Even Though the Game Has Gone Gold

Rayman Legends Retold will now release on December 3, 2026, two months after its original October 1 launch date. The delay covers every version: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store, plus the GeForce Now and Blacknut streaming services.

The Rayman development team announced the change on the series' official social account on September 14. The unusual part is the reason. The team says the game has already gone gold, which means a finished build exists, but it wants "extra time" so every detail gets proper care.

What is the new Rayman Legends Retold release date?

The only date Ubisoft has given is December 3. It has not published a launch time, and it has not said whether any platform or region gets the game earlier. The team did not say whether the date is the same on every storefront, so assume it is until Ubisoft says otherwise.

Store pages may take a while to catch up. When we checked on the afternoon of September 14, the Steam listing still showed October 1 and was still taking pre-purchases.

Why is the game delayed if it has gone gold?

Going gold normally means a game is ready to be manufactured and shipped. Delaying after that point is rare, and the short statement does not say what the extra two months will be spent on. It does not mention bugs, performance, or any single platform.

Anything beyond that is guesswork. A day-one patch, a crowded October release window or retail planning could all play a part, but Ubisoft has not confirmed any of them. Its only stated reason is care over detail.

What happens next: the September 22 trailer

The delay comes with a new date to watch. Ubisoft will release a Game Overview trailer on September 22. The same day, selected press and content creators will publish hands-on impressions, the first detailed looks at the game from outside the studio.

That coverage should show whether the new content lives up to its billing. Until then, most of what is known comes from the June 2 reveal.

Price, editions and platforms

On Steam, pre-purchase prices in the US are $39.99 for the Standard Edition and $49.99 for the Deluxe Edition. Ubisoft has not announced any price change with the delay. Here is what each version includes:

• Standard Edition: Rayman Legends Retold plus Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition.
• Deluxe Edition (digital): everything in Standard, plus the Retro Pack of four costumes for Rayman, Globox, Barbara and Grand Minimus, and an in-game Art Gallery.
• Launch Edition (retail): the Standard content with a printed map, three lithographs and a slipcase.
• Deluxe Upgrade Pack: the Retro Pack and Art Gallery as a separate digital add-on.
• Pre-order bonus: the Hoodlum Havoc pack, with Rayman and Globox costumes based on Rayman 3.

What is new in Retold

This is not a straight port of the 2013 platformer. Ubisoft's announcement lists a new story, a sixth realm that was not in the original, four new music levels, dragon rides, new Cave of Trials challenges, and a Kung Foot mode with custom rules. It also promises an expanded soundtrack and fully voiced cutscenes.
