The Rogue Prince of Persia Update 1.1.0 Adds Freeze and Weapon Affixes, and Cuts Crit Damage to 150%
The Rogue Prince of Persia update 1.1.0, which Evil Empire calls the Anniversary update, went live on September 17. It adds a Freeze element, weapon affixes, two weapons, four tools and arena challenge rooms, and it cuts base critical damage from 200% to 150%. The update is out on PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store, and on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Ubisoft publishes the game, and the update was released on every platform on the same day. The studio first planned it for April as a Steam-only patch, then held it back so console players would not have to wait. That pushed it from April to summer, and then to September 17, four days before summer ends. The studio also says the game has now passed one million players on all platforms.

What the Rogue Prince of Persia update adds
Freeze is the headline. The first hit knocks an enemy back further, and a second stack freezes it in place, removes its shield and cuts the damage it deals. When the freeze ends, the enemy takes a burst of damage based on how many stacks you applied. Enemies standing in water or resin get both stacks at once, and fire shortens the freeze.
- Weapon affixes: weapons and tools now roll up to four random modifiers, from Iron (none) to Diamond (four). There are 22 in total, and Astara can reroll them for a fee.
- New weapons: the Shamal Crescent and the Blazing Cuffs.
- New tools: Flaming Horses (60 energy), a Freezing Arrow Launcher (30), an Ice Trap (40) and a Corrupted Turret (60).
- Arena rooms: optional combat challenges, one per biome at most, that lock you in until every wave is cleared in exchange for extra loot.
- New stats and screens: Critical Damage and Damage Resistance stats, a run stats screen, a run history you unlock in Paachi's shop, and an optional in-game timer for speedrunners.
Which builds got nerfed
If you have been running critical builds, expect to lose damage. Base critical damage drops from 200% to 150%. Critical damage bonuses now add together instead of multiplying, and Critical Greed now pays 10 gold per crit instead of 20. The new Critical Sharpener medallions, which add 10% critical damage each or 15% as a pair, are meant to keep those builds playable.
Three weapon specials also lose damage. At the top upgrade level, the Cest special drops from 256 to 208, the Kaali Scythe special from 328 to 272, and the Mace special from 288 to 192. Damage per hit on the Saw tool is halved, from 20 to 10.
Medallion slots no longer appear in chests or from gamblers. Shops now have a 50% chance to sell one for 50 gold, and boss loot is set up so you finish a run with at least five slots. Elite enemies now drop a medallion and a small heal.
Early biomes and boss changes
The update targets the air-dash trick many players used to skip the first boss fight against General Berude. The early levels now include wall-run sections you cannot skip. Outside Vayu, air-dash distance is shorter, and wall-running now fills the Vayu bar. Zagros, the Aqueduct and the Huns Camp are shorter but have more enemies and loot, and the tutorial's damage reduction now kicks in only at 50% health.
The bosses have been retuned in both directions. Nogai drops from 15,000 to 13,000 health, while Corrupted Nogai rises from 12,000 to 15,000. The final fight gets new meteor, lightning and spear attacks and a longer ending cutscene. Later biomes get far more enemies: the Palace goes from 40 to 60 enemies to 80 to 90, and the Garden from 45 to 50 to 70 to 80.
Bug fixes in 1.1.0
The patch notes list fixes for several bugs players had been reporting:
- A cloud save bug where an older run could overwrite a newer save.
- An Xbox bug that stopped the final achievement from unlocking.
- Weapons losing damage partway through a session.
- Ending music that kept playing after you skipped the cutscene.
There is also a new achievement for finishing a run at Awakening 40 or higher, but only on Steam. The studio says console platform rules prevented adding it there. The full notes are 15 pages long and are on the game's official website.
This is the second Prince of Persia game on Steam where Ubisoft has made changes this year. It follows the removal of the Ubisoft Connect launcher from The Lost Crown on Steam. Frequently Asked Questions
What is in The Rogue Prince of Persia Anniversary update?
Update 1.1.0 adds a Freeze element, weapon and tool affixes with up to four modifiers, two new weapons, four new tools, arena challenge rooms and an in-game speedrun timer. It also shortens the early biomes, adds mandatory wall-run sections and retunes both Nogai boss fights.
Is the Rogue Prince of Persia update out on consoles?
Yes. The Anniversary update launched on September 17 on PC (Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 at the same time. The studio delayed it from April so consoles would not get it later than Steam.
Were crit builds nerfed in The Rogue Prince of Persia?
Yes. Base critical damage fell from 200% to 150%, critical damage bonuses now stack additively instead of multiplying, and Critical Greed gives 10 gold per crit instead of 20. New Critical Sharpener medallions add 10% critical damage each, or 15% as a pair.
Can you still skip Berude with the air dash?
Not easily. Update 1.1.0 adds mandatory wall-run sections to the tutorial and early biomes, and it shortens air-dash distance outside Vayu. Wall-running now fills the Vayu bar, so the game rewards wall-running instead.
Does the update fix the cloud save bug?
Yes. The patch notes list a fix for cloud saves where an older run could overwrite a more recent one. The update also fixes weapons losing damage partway through a session and the Xbox achievement that would not unlock.
