Dragon's Dogma 2 Update 3.2 Adds Three Save Slots, Six Skill Slots and Drops Denuvo

Aditya Singh

Dragon's Dogma 2 update 3.2 is live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it rewrites two of the things players complained about hardest since launch: you now get three save slots per Arisen instead of one, and six assignable weapon skills instead of four. Capcom pushed it out at 5:30 p.m. PT on 1 September, which is the small hours of 2 September in UTC, and confirmed the rollout in its own Steam post the same night.

The patch lands five weeks before the Dark Arisen expansion, which is dated 9 October. Capcom is openly framing 3.2 as the tidy-up before that content, so this is the version of the game the expansion will be built on top of.

What Dragon's Dogma 2 update 3.2 changes in the save system

Each Arisen now has three save slots rather than a single one. Every slot holds three separate entries: an autosave, an interim save, and your last inn rest. The important part is the behaviour change underneath it. Loading your last inn rest no longer wipes the autosave or the interim save sitting alongside it, so backing out of a bad decision no longer costs you the hour you played after it.

Dragonsplague gets a direct answer too. A new consumable, the Dragonsbaulk Draught, cures an infected Pawn outright. Capcom has also made the affliction easier to spot before it turns into a village-wide disaster, and given infected Pawns their own combat behaviours in the meantime: they stun large enemies by hitting the legs, swing at smaller ones without draining stamina for a short window, and build the loss gauge more slowly.

Six skill slots and the vocation changes

The jump from four to six assignable weapon skills is the headline combat change, and it touches every vocation. Unarmed combat picks up a Dash Attack and a Charge Attack. Mage gains Magick Barrier and Trickster gains Buoyant Brume, with damage values, combo timing and targeting tweaked across Fighter, Archer, Warrior and the rest.

Pawns got a pass as well. Two new commands, Explore and High Five, join the existing set, and Pawns can now grapple enemies and interfere with attacks while the Arisen is downed. Capcom also fixed the long-standing bug where Pawns refused to help operate a ballista against dragons.

  • Save slots: one to three per Arisen, each with autosave, interim save and last inn rest
  • Weapon skills: four to six assignable slots
  • New item: Dragonsbaulk Draught, a Dragonsplague cure
  • New Pawn commands: Explore and High Five
  • UI: equipment filters, favouriting, and future material requirements shown on the Enhancement screen
  • Denuvo anti-tamper removed on PC

Which platforms get which graphics options

This is where the platforms split. PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S get one new graphics toggle, Resource-Intense Effects Quality, on top of the general optimisation work. PC gets a much longer list: Volumetric Fog Resolution, Cloudscape Resolution, Foliage Density, Terrain Quality, Ray Tracing GI Quality, Ray Tracing GI Shading Quality, Effect Reflections, Swaying Grass Quality, a graphics memory readout, and two CPU-side options in CPU Saving Mode and NPC Culling.

NPC Culling is the one worth finding first. This game's worst frame pacing has always been in crowded cities, where the CPU rather than the GPU is the bottleneck, and both new options target exactly that.

Denuvo is gone, and the PC requirements moved

Capcom removed Denuvo anti-tamper from the PC version with this update. The company has not published a reason. For players it means one fewer background process and, in practice, better odds on Steam Deck and Linux setups, where anti-tamper layers have historically been the awkward part. Our write-up on For Honor dropping Steam Deck and Linux support covers the other side of that coin.

Capcom also refreshed the listed system requirements alongside the patch, and they now apply to both the base game and the Dark Arisen expansion. The minimum is Windows 11 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-8500 or Ryzen 5 3500, 16GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8GB of VRAM, targeting 1080p at 45-60fps with an upscaler on the Prioritize Performance preset. The recommended tier is a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 5 3600X with an RTX 2070 Super or RX 6600 XT for a steadier 60fps. Ray tracing still asks for an RTX 2080 Ti or RX 6800, and Capcom lists an SSD as recommended rather than required.

What this means before Dark Arisen on 9 October

Dark Arisen adds the frozen Norgan region and a loot-driven Relic Expedition Cycle. Producer Naoto Oyama has said the recommended starting level is 40 for Forsaken Dominion and 20 for Lost Rites, and that both are reachable early by talking to Brant at the Vernworth tavern. Those are recommendations, not locks.

Capcom has not given a download size for 3.2 on any platform, and there is no separate Nintendo Switch 2 build of the base game to patch yet. Frequently Asked Questions

How many save slots does Dragon's Dogma 2 have after update 3.2?

Three per Arisen, up from one. Each slot stores an autosave, an interim save and your last inn rest separately. Loading the inn rest no longer overwrites the other two, so you can roll back a mistake without losing later progress.

How do you cure Dragonsplague in Dragon's Dogma 2 now?

Update 3.2 adds a consumable called the Dragonsbaulk Draught that cures an infected Pawn. Capcom also made the affliction easier to notice before it spreads. Infected Pawns now fight differently in the meantime, stunning large enemies by attacking their legs.

Did Capcom remove Denuvo from Dragon's Dogma 2?

Yes. The PC version shipped update 3.2 without Denuvo anti-tamper. Capcom has not explained the decision publicly. The removal applies to the Steam build and arrives ahead of the Dark Arisen expansion on 9 October.

What are the new PC settings in Dragon's Dogma 2 update 3.2?

PC gains Volumetric Fog Resolution, Cloudscape Resolution, Foliage Density, Terrain Quality, Ray Tracing GI Quality and Shading Quality, Effect Reflections, Swaying Grass Quality, a graphics memory readout, plus CPU Saving Mode and NPC Culling. Consoles only get Resource-Intense Effects Quality.

When does the Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen expansion release?

9 October 2026. It adds the Norgan region and a loot-based Relic Expedition Cycle. Capcom recommends level 40 for Forsaken Dominion and level 20 for Lost Rites, though both are accessible early by speaking to Brant in Vernworth.
