Borderlands 4 Update 1.10 Raises the Level Cap to 70, and Story Pack 2 Costs $19.99

Borderlands 4 update 1.10 is live, and the free half of it applies to everyone: the maximum character level rises from 60 to 70, whether or not you buy a single piece of the paid content shipping beside it. The update is out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Alongside it, Gearbox and 2K have released Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort at $19.99, a new Vault Hunter called Loveless the Hacker at $9.99, and Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows at $5.99. Each is a separate purchase.

What the free Borderlands 4 update 1.10 changes

The level cap increase is the headline, and it is the part nobody pays for. Ten more levels means ten more skill points, which is enough to reach into a second or third branch of a skill tree rather than committing everything to one. Players who capped out months ago get somewhere to put experience again.

This is the second cap raise the game has had. Borderlands 4 shipped with a ceiling of 50, moved to 60 with the March update that accompanied the first Story Pack, and now sits at 70. The pattern is consistent: the cap moves when a Story Pack arrives, and it moves for the whole player base rather than for pack owners only.

What Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort costs

The $19.99 story pack brings back FL4K, the Beastmaster from Borderlands 3, and sends players to Providence, a tropical island built around a volcano. It is a full new zone rather than an arena, with its own missions, activities, world events and enemy types.

The loot chase is the specific bit worth knowing about before you spend: two new Pearlescent weapons and 18 pieces of Legendary gear, farmed through the pack's endgame content. If you own the Super Deluxe Edition or the separately sold Vault Hunter Pack, Story Pack 2 is already included and you owe nothing extra.

Is Loveless the Hacker included with Story Pack 2?

No, and this trips people up. Loveless the Hacker is the seventh playable Vault Hunter, and she is sold apart from the Providence campaign at $9.99. Buying the story pack does not unlock her, and buying her does not unlock the campaign. Both are bundled into the Vault Hunter Pack and the Super Deluxe Edition, which is the only way to get them together without paying twice.

Gearbox describes her as an ex-Anshin hacker turned assassin, kitted out with cybernetics and a self-written digital virus that digistructs into a physical form to fight alongside her. She is the first new Vault Hunter added to the game since launch.

Bounty Pack 5 and Vault Card 5

Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows costs $5.99 and is built around a repeatable mission in which Amara investigates Phase disturbances. Finishing it unlocks a character skin, a vehicle skin and a drone skin, and the pack adds one Pearlescent weapon plus six Legendary items to farm.

Vault Card 5 is a separate $5.99 purchase carrying 24 cosmetics and four rerollable pieces of gear, earned through play rather than handed over at once. Bounty Pack 5 is covered by the Super Deluxe Edition and the Bounty Pack Bundle.

Why PS5 and Xbox owners have to redownload old DLC

This is the practical catch of the day. From today, the parts of Story Pack 1 and Bounty Pack 2 are sold individually rather than as combined listings, matching how everything from Bounty Pack 3 onward has been sold. Console owners of that older content have to visit each new listing on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store and redownload it.

Nothing about the content itself changes and nobody has to pay again. It is a storefront repackaging, and it only affects PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Steam and Epic Games Store players do not need to do anything.

Which platforms get it

All of the above is out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on the same day. There is no last-generation version of Borderlands 4, so PS4 and Xbox One are not part of this.
