Nighthawks Steam Listing Hidden From Search and Delisted in Germany After Adults Only Rating
Nighthawks, the vampire RPG from The Curiosity Engine and publisher Wadjet Eye Games, has been reclassified as Adults Only on Steam. It has been pulled from Steam's default search results and delisted in some countries, including Germany, nine days before its 22 September 2026 launch.
The game is still coming to Steam on Windows, macOS and Linux, and to GOG on Windows and macOS. For players in most regions the Steam page still exists, but you will not find it by typing its name into the store search unless you change one account setting.

Why Nighthawks is hidden on Steam
Valve places games it classifies as Adults Only behind extra walls. They are left out of search by default, and a player has to be logged in, confirm they are an adult and switch on adult content in their preferences before the listing shows up. In some territories that age check requires a credit card, and in others the game cannot be sold at all.
The studio disputes the rating. Steam's own content descriptor for the game describes strong language, adult situations and occasional non-explicit nudity in romance scenes, with most mature material delivered through text and no graphic sex scenes. Writer Richard Cobbett has said in published reports that the intimate moments are mild, often played for comedy, and usually fade to black. Producer Dave Gilbert argued that Valve is treating it as far more explicit than it is.
Wadjet Eye says it has contacted Valve and is working to have the classification changed before launch. Valve has not commented publicly, and no change to the release date has been announced.
How to find Nighthawks on Steam before it launches
If you live somewhere the game is still listed, you can make it visible yourself. The setting applies to your whole account, so it also affects what the store recommends to you.
- In the Steam client or on the website, click your account name in the top-right corner and open Store Preferences.
- Under Mature Content, tick Adult Only Sexual Content.
- Confirm your age if Steam asks. In some countries this means adding a credit card.
- Search again, or open the listing directly and add it to your wishlist.
Australian players already face a stricter version of this check: our explainer on Steam's credit card age verification in Australia covers which cards count. Players in Germany and other countries where the game is delisted cannot unlock the page this way. For them, the GOG version is currently the listing to watch.

You play a newly turned vampire in a city that has publicly offered the undead a second chance, and you build a nightclub empire over two in-game years. The script runs past 800,000 words across more than 80 voiced characters, and the game was funded on Kickstarter by nearly 4,000 backers who pledged over $136,000. It is built in the Godot engine.
Mainstream PC storefront rules have tripped up players before. Earlier this month, For Honor cut off Steam Deck and Linux players with an anti-cheat change, and store-level decisions like this one hit smaller studios hardest because search is how most people find their games.
Can you still play it on a Steam Deck or phone?
Because Nighthawks ships with a native Linux build on Steam, it should install on a Steam Deck once the account setting above is switched on. Valve has not yet published a Deck Verified rating for it. There is no mobile version.
