PUBG Mobile 4.6 Update Adds Midnight Hunters Vampire Mode, With the Client Live 9 September
PUBG Mobile's Version 4.6 update puts a vampire uprising on the battlefield: Midnight Hunters, a limited-time themed mode in which one faction hunts the other with silver chains and bat wings, is live from 8 September and runs until 10 November 2026. The client update itself, version 4.6.0, begins rolling out on 9 September for Android and iOS, and the Royale Pass A21 season starts on 12 September.

This is one of the more content-heavy PUBG Mobile updates of the year, and almost all of it is time-limited. If you only log in occasionally, the ordering matters more than the feature list.
What the PUBG Mobile 4.6 update actually changes
Midnight Hunters splits a match into two sides. Several areas of the map become Vampire Hunter Guild locations, seeded with PvE enemies — Bloodwalkers, Nightbats and Vampire Elders — plus an AI boss called the Nightkeeper who can be fought for extra supplies. Elite enemies show up with protective shields and their own finishing animations.
Players eliminated early in a match are not simply out. They can return as Vampires after revival, while everyone still standing continues as Hunters, which changes how a late circle plays out.
- Vampire abilities: Claw Attack, the health-restoring Absorb, Blood Sense for locating nearby Hunters, and Blood Amberfication, a temporary speed boost with damage immunity.
- Hunter gear: Twilight Bat Wings turn you into an energy bat with hover, dash, latch and sonar; the Silvermoon Chain works as a weapon, a traversal tool and a damage block.
- Bloodline Awakening: available every Friday through Sunday during September, rather than permanently.
- Rubber Dinghy: a portable boat added as a rotation option.
- New cosmetics: a dual-form upgradeable UZI with the Honor Series Ultimate Set, an upgradeable Mini14 with the Platinum Soulmeister Set, and the Sanguine Sonata Set.
Ocean Odyssey returns, but only on Erangel
The underwater-themed Ocean Odyssey mode is back as part of 4.6, and this time it is restricted to Erangel. It runs until 30 September, which is six weeks shorter than the Midnight Hunters window, so it is the one to clear first if you are chasing its rewards. We covered the mode's original run and what replaced it in our breakdown of what PUBG Mobile's Ocean Odyssey changed and what came after.
Three collaborations are also scheduled across the update window: Lincoln on 10 September, One Punch Man on 20 September and B. Duck on 2 October. A World of Wonder Halloween event and an Alan Walker tie-in are listed as well. Krafton has not published individual end dates for each collaboration, so treat the start dates as the confirmed part.
Which platforms and versions get it
Version 4.6.0 is a PUBG Mobile update, distributed through Google Play and the App Store. It is separate from PUBG: Battlegrounds on PC and console, which is running its own content on a different schedule — the PUBG Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration arrives 10 September on PC and 17 September on console and does not appear in the mobile build.
BGMI players in India typically receive the same version number on a short delay, with region-specific event names. Krafton has not stated a separate BGMI date for 4.6.0.
Rollouts are staged, which is why the mode window opens on 8 September while the client lands on 9 September. If the store still shows 4.5 on your device, the download is not live in your region yet. Forcing an APK sideload to get in early is how accounts pick up integrity flags, so it is worth waiting.
Is it worth updating on an older phone?
Themed modes with PvE enemies, boss AI and transformation effects are heavier than plain Erangel matches, and the Nightkeeper fights in particular pile several entities into one area. On a 3GB or 4GB device you will likely want the lowest graphics preset for Midnight Hunters specifically, even if standard Classic matches run fine for you at higher settings. Our list of Android games that hold up on low-end phones and 2GB RAM is a useful reference point for what that hardware can genuinely sustain.

What is still unconfirmed
Krafton has not published a download size for 4.6.0, and staged rollouts mean the figure varies by device and region anyway. The exact server time for the client push has not been given either, beyond the 9 September date. Anything you see quoting a precise megabyte figure ahead of the rollout is an estimate, not an official number.
