Samsung Galaxy S26
Specs, US price, release date, and Android Hire verdict
The Galaxy S26 starts at $899.99 in the US (256GB) and went on sale 6 March 2026. US units use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.3-inch 120Hz AMOLED, the same 50/10/12 cameras as the S26+, and a 4,300mAh cell with 25W charging.

Samsung Galaxy S26 at a glance
- US launch price $899.99 (256GB) / $1,099 (512GB); street prices now often $660–$775.
- US/Canada/China: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. UK/EU/India: Exynos 2600.
- 6.3-inch 1080p 120Hz AMOLED, 167 g, 7.2 mm, IP68, seven years of updates.
- Same 50MP + 10MP 3x + 12MP cameras as the S26+; 25W wired charging is the weak point.
- Buy the S26 or the Ultra — skip the Plus unless you want the 6.7-inch 1440p panel.
- US units use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — GSMArena measured ~2.44M AnTuTu and 15:20h of active use
- 167g and 7.2mm: the lightest, most pocketable phone in Samsung's 2026 S lineup
- Same 50MP + 10MP 3x + 12MP camera trio as the $1,099 S26+
- Seven years of Android and security updates, IP68, Wi-Fi 7, USB-C 3.2 with DisplayPort
- Street prices now sit well below the $899 launch, often in the mid-$700s unlocked
- 25W wired charging is slower than the S26+ (45W) and even the Galaxy A57
- 4,300mAh is the smallest cell in the S26 family; the Plus lasts an hour longer in the same test
- Camera hardware is unchanged since the S22 generation's 50/10/12 layout
- Exynos 2600 outside the US, Canada and China — those buyers should not use US benchmark numbers
- No S Pen, no 1TB option, 1080p panel rather than the Plus's 1440p
Android Hire Verdict — The S26 to buy unless you need zoom
The vanilla Galaxy S26 is the one most US buyers should actually consider in Samsung's 2026 lineup. It shares the Plus's chipset and cameras, weighs 23g less, and costs $200 less at launch. You give up a brighter 1440p panel, a bigger battery, and 45W charging. If those three things are not why you were looking at the Plus, save the money. Step to the Ultra only if you want the 200MP sensor, 5x periscope, or S Pen.

Samsung Galaxy S26 in depth
S26 vs S26+ vs S26 Ultra, for US shoppers
Samsung's $200 steps are lopsided. The S26 ($899) and S26+ ($1,099) share Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US and the same 50/10/12 camera array. The extra $200 buys a 6.7-inch 1440p panel and a 4,900mAh cell. Another $200 to the Ultra ($1,299) buys a 200MP main, 5x periscope, autofocus ultrawide, S Pen, Gorilla Armor 2 and 60W charging.
That is why we keep recommending the S26 or the Ultra, not the Plus, for most people. The compact S26 is also 167g — 23g under the Plus and 42g under the Ultra — which is the difference between a phone you forget is in a pocket and one you do not.
Charging is the weak point
25W wired to 55% in 30 minutes is slow by 2026 flagship standards. The S26+ is 45W, the Ultra is 60W, and the mid-range Galaxy A57 is 45W. Wireless is 15W Qi2 Ready without built-in magnets. If you top up at a desk, this is fine. If you live on short charges, the Plus or a OnePlus 15 is the better chassis.
Samsung Galaxy S26 benchmarks
GSMArena lab results for a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 US unit. Exynos 2600 units sold in Europe, the UK and India typically score lower, especially in GPU tests.
