Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 at a glance

  • US price $1,899.99 (256GB), $2,099.99 (512GB), $2,499.99 (1TB). On sale 7 August 2026.
  • 7.6-inch inner 2448 × 1848 + 5.5-inch cover 1248 × 1972; 201 g; 4.5 mm unfolded.
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Android 17 / One UI 9, seven OS updates.
  • Dual 50MP rear cameras — no dedicated telephoto on this non-Ultra Fold8.
  • Thinner and faster than Pixel 10 Pro Fold; Duo at $1,999 is the iOS alternative.
Pros
  • 7.6-inch 120Hz LTPO inner display at 3000 nits, plus a 5.5-inch cover that is finally large enough to use as a normal phone
  • 201g and 4.5mm unfolded — among the lightest, thinnest book foldables Samsung has shipped
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 12GB RAM (16GB on 1TB), UFS 4.x, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6
  • Android 17 with One UI 9 and seven years of OS updates
  • IPX8, 45W wired (63% in 30 min), 20W wireless
Cons
  • Dual 50MP rear cameras, no dedicated telephoto — a step back from Fold7's versatility if you shoot zoom
  • $1,899.99 starting price, $100 above last year's Fold7 in some configurations
  • 4,800mAh is modest for an 8-inch-class inner panel; expect one full day, not two
  • iPhone Duo at $1,999 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold at $1,799 make this a crowded $1,800–$2,000 foldable shelf

Android Hire Verdict — The Android foldable to beat, until Duo ships

The Fold8 is Samsung doing the boring, correct foldable: thinner, lighter, a cover screen you can actually live on, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and seven years of updates. The missing telephoto and $1,900 price are the reasons to look at the Pixel 10 Pro Fold ($1,799, 8-inch inner, 5x telephoto) or wait for iPhone Duo on 23 October. If you want Samsung software and DeX on a foldable today, this is the one.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 in depth

Cover screen is the Fold8's real upgrade

5.5 inches, 1248 x 1972, 120Hz, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. That is large enough to use as a regular phone for messages, maps and camera — the complaint that killed earlier Folds for people who did not want to open the inner panel 40 times a day.

Inside, 7.6 inches at 2448 x 1848, 4:3, Flex Titanium, anti-reflective coating. It is a productivity canvas, not a media-first 16:9 slab, which is why Samsung still ships DeX on it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 FAQ

How much is the Galaxy Z Fold8 in the US?

Unlocked pricing is $1,899.99 (256GB), $2,099.99 (512GB) and $2,499.99 (1TB). Colors are Graphite, Cream, Lavender and Pistachio. It went on sale 7 August 2026 after 22 July pre-orders.

Does the Fold8 have a telephoto camera?

No. It uses a dual 50MP wide + 50MP ultrawide. There is no dedicated 3x or 5x telephoto. If zoom photography is why you buy a flagship, the Fold8 Ultra (where sold) or a Galaxy S26 Ultra is the better camera.
